My mum & dad were up in Northumberland on a visit and expressed a desire to go to the island, not a problem, quick check of the tides and off we set.
We very quickly decided that whilst my parents where doing the tourist bit my better half and I would have a walk around the island, after all we had done the Lindisfarne castle & priory bits before and the kindest way of describing looking at it again was like watching paint dry.
So we agreed times and meeting places & off we went.
As per normal first photo is taken from the car park looking towards Lindisfarn Castle
Looking towards the ruins of the old Benedictine Priory
Old upside down boats I believe that the local fishermen use them for storage now.
Lindisfarn Castle
Looking across to Guile point on the main land
Taken whilst walking round the castle
Looking towards the walled garden (we didn’t go in there)
part of the lime kilns
Front of the kilns
Inside?
More shots from inside the kilns
Walking along the coastline I think this bit is known as Bible law
Sammy the seal popped up to say hello (its things like this that make the walks for us)
The white navigation tower at Emmanuel Head
Looking across at the Lough (I believe it’s a wildlife sanctuary now)
In some pub garden (can’t remember its name) looking at the Priory ruins
same place
Lindisfarn
same ruins different angle
Guile point on the main land (we did a walk over there a few weeks earlier must do a report)
ruins
Church (that’s all I can remember about it, sorry)
This walk turned out to be really good, once you escaped from the crowds, we both found it to be very peaceful and relaxing and of course the weather was really kind to us, the down side is food and drink we found was very expensive but then it is very touristy.
So if you want a nice day out with no hills plenty to look at this is the place to come
However make sure that you check the tide tables .
