From today`s walk, Across the fields at Unthank, looking toward Prendwick, warm sunshine at times, but a cold, cold wind! Collingwood House Plantation from Unthank. On the Unthank road, out of Alnham, a mile from the farm, looking toward Great Ryle. Note the neatly trimmed hedgerow, most of the minor roads in this part of Northumberland have had their hedges trimmed in recent weeks. Many farmers have carried out this work for, and on behalf of the council. In days gone by, long before the term `squat` was invented, to take possession, or to live in another`s property without first seeking permission of the owner of the property was to `Unthank`.
