Note the falling away over 12 months or so (since I was last here) of the original bags of lime from the base. 30/07/14 During the construction of the bridge, sacks filled with lime were carted here from Peebles by local carriers, under orders of the town officials, these were to be incorporated into the structure of the bridge. These images were originally on the, now defunct Northumbria Walking Forums, note the bags of lime still in situ, compared with the more recent image (above). One of my better shots of the Auld Brig, imho
